About the Artist
Noted Bahamian artist Sheldon Saint is recognized as one who captures the natural beauty and grace of the every-day-island life. Sheldon Saint is a self-taught Artist who has been drawing from the tender age of eight and painting from the age of nineteen. For more than twenty (20) years this artist has been creating exceptional detailed works of art in Oil, Watercolor, Egg Tempera and Conté.
In 1991 to educate himself in the fine arts, Sheldon began to study the Dutch Old Master Rembrandt. The French Impressionist Renoir and Monet influenced him in 1992. Today his attention has been drawn to John Singer Sargent. Sheldon’s work is often compared with the American watercolorist Stephen Scott Young to whom he attributes his drybrush technique and careful application of the watercolor medium. In 1993 and 1994 Sheldon became well known for his life-like portraits capturing the emotion and personality of the subject.
Sheldon has exhibited extensively in The Bahamas since 1995. In 1996 he held his first one-man show; later that year he began experimenting with watercolors.
The realistic execution of his subjects has led him to the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas Inaugural Exhibition in 2003 and the second National Exhibition in 2004. Sheldon's paintings hang in private collections in the Bahamas, the United States, the United Kingdom, The Republic of China and Trinidad and Tobago.

A self-taught artist who has been painting professionally for the past twenty (20) years capturing the natural beauty and grace of the every-day-island life. One can see the impeccable details in his paintings in oil, watercolor, egg tempera and conté.
